Treats can be used for training and positive reinforcement. 

​

Positive reinforcement training uses praise and/or treats to reward your dog for doing something you want him to do. Because the reward makes him more likely to repeat the behaviour, positive reinforcement is one of your most powerful tools for shaping or changing your dog’s behaviour.

If your like me I like to give my dog a treat of an evening. I find something chewy that mentally stimulates him like a pizzle stick. I also use pate and stuff his Kong with it. If you do stuff Kongs always make sure you put a straw through the middle so there's still a hole at each end after its been frozen.
